Storm Clouds

I never did end up walking today, although I planned to many times.

It was crazy record breaking hot

It’s the near-end of our first online school unit

I spent the day answering emailed questions

Scoring late work

And distance discussing our next set of plans

I sat on my deck at last, with the book I’ve been trying to finish, when the temperatures suddenly plunged and the skies began to darken.

The winds roared in with a sudden gush and the weather alarm blared from the kitchen

Any normal person might take this is a suggestion to go inside

I, of course, ran for my camera.

The calm before the storm?

The winds still,

The birds return

to sing and chirp and call

The sun sinks into puffs of glowing clouds

Will the fury

and some day the virus

drift away in the dusk?

Or come roaring back

to catch us unaware in the night?
