Summer flowers,
Coffee on the swing,
Crickets buzz in the slowly cooling evening air,
A bird hops grumpily just out of view,
Wishing I would leave.
exploring my world, one park at a time

Summer flowers,
Coffee on the swing,
Crickets buzz in the slowly cooling evening air,
A bird hops grumpily just out of view,
Wishing I would leave.

Summery hot,
8:30 in the morning,
Muggy and wind blown from overnight storms,
Rose of Sharon blooms,
Sway between the slats.

New toy fun…
My kids got me an enormous new camera lens for
Mother’s Day/Anniversary/Retirement
The wildlife may never forgive them.

Deck cleaning and flower planting on a beautiful May Day Saturday. The birds were offended by my presence most of the morning, especially when I washed away their piles of seed on the floor of the deck. They fussed and chattered from the trees, but eventually decided to coexist when I retreated to the swing to read.

Sunrise slide,
Day by day further east,
Glowing behind,
Newly thickened trees

New toys!
Gifts from my daughter while I was out of town.
I can’t wait to plant them,
To see the deck exploding with summer growth again.

Beautiful sunshine breakfast,
Birds singing and sampling and darting
Oblivious to possible snow tomorrow afternoon.

A grackle, a woodpecker, and two tiny cardinals joined daily pack of sparrows, pigeons, and of course squirrels today.
It’s still warm and spring like now, in the sunny afternoon. The hovering threat of winter temperatures and possible snow in two days time, has not yet seemed to reach my backyard wildlife.

Storm clouds,
Slowly massing,
In the final glow,
Of the setting sun.
